How it works

One instrument. Two sides of the block.

InvestLocal runs on a single financial instrument — the Revenue-Share Note. A business shares a fixed percentage of its monthly revenue with backers until they earn a fixed return multiple — 1.2× to 1.5×, set by the business. No equity, no voting shares.

Raise growth capital from your community — share revenue, not ownership.

  1. 1

    Apply & set your terms

Our onboarding wizard walks you through your raise. Set a minimum target of at least $50,000 (up to a $500,000 ceiling), pick the percentage of monthly revenue you'll share, and choose your repayment multiple — anywhere from 1.2× to 1.5×.

  2. 2

Pay the $1,500 deposit & rally your neighbors

To keep the marketplace serious, a campaign stays in draft until you pay the $1,500 commitment deposit (simulated in this preview). Payment opens your private soft launch: an unlisted share link for your regulars and neighbors. Once enough unique backers commit, your campaign graduates to the public marketplace — proof of community demand before strangers are asked to invest. And the deposit is refundable in effect: when your campaign funds, the full $1,500 is credited against the transparent 6% success fee, so successful founders pay $0 net out-of-pocket.

  3. 3

    Get funded through escrow

Backer commitments accumulate in a third-party escrow (North Capital) — InvestLocal never holds the funds. When you hit your minimum target, the raise is marked funded and the capital is cleared for release to your business.

  4. 4

    Share revenue until repaid

Each month you report your gross revenue. Our engine splits your revenue-share percentage across backers pro-rata by principal and tracks each one toward your chosen multiple. Once a backer is fully repaid, their note closes — no lingering obligations, no equity given up.
